Facebook action for blind school in Debre Zeit

TTAF supports the school for blind children of Mr Wondimu where blind children who have not yet had any form of education learn to read and write in Braille. They are given the same development opportunities as all other children who are directly admitted to mainstream education.

Marleen Wassink lives with her family near Debre Zeit in Ethiopia.

Through a meeting with a TTAF delegation, Marleen came into contact with this blind school. Marleen who is a teacher of biology wanted to do some for these children and after some consultation Marleen started to give extra lessons. For example, Marleen teaches the children to deal with all kinds of everyday things like vegetables, animals, household objects and so on. She also supervises the children in playing with for example Duplo.

Marleen tells about: Who O who has Duplo for the blind school? They have little to no playing materials. When I took some Duplo blocks during a lesson, they played so incredibly fun with it! Therefore, I would like to give them some.. No matter what: loose blocks, vehicles or animals.. All welcome!

Read more about what Marleen does for the blind children on Facebook.

You can support Marleen’s work in the blind school with a gift, but also by giving Duplo which you don’t use for a while.

You can make your donation to TTAF to bank account NL61 RABO 0385 5978 19 with messages support blind children. For Duplo, please contact Jan van het Veld by phone 0342-422023 or mail to janvhveld@TTAF.org then we will ensure that it comes in the right place.
